LEAKING FUEL FILLER CAP

Check for missing or loose fuel filler
cap.
z
Check for possible cross-threaded
fuel filler cap.
z
Is a concern present?
Yes
Repair or replace if necessary. Go to the next
step.
No
Go to Step 6.

EVAP SYSTEM LEAK TEST

Perform the EVAP system leak test.

Are the test results normal?
Yes Go to Step 6.
No
Leakage still exists. Go to the P0455

VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF
DTC P0457 HAS BEEN COMPLETED
z
Verify that all disconnected
connectors are reconnected.
z
Turn the ignition switch to the ON
position (Engine off).
z
Clear the DTC from the PCM
memory using the M-MDS.
z
Start the engine and run it at idle.
z
Retrieve DTCs using the M-MDS.
z
Is the PENDING CODE for this DTC
present?
Yes
Replace the PCM, then go to the next step. (See
PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI-
3.7]

No
Go to the next step.

Fuel level sensor circuit
DETECTION
CONDITION

The PCM monitors the fuel level input communications network message for a
concern. The test fails when the PCM determines that the value of the fuel level
input signal is stuck. The PCM calculates the amount of fuel used during
