VERIFY RELATED PENDING CODE OR
STORED DTC

Verify the related PENDING CODE or
stored DTCs.

Are other DTCs present?
Yes Go to appropriate DTC inspection. (See
DTC
TABLE [MZI-3.7]

No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT THE COOLING SYSTEM
z
Inspect the vehicle coolant level.
z
Is the cooling system normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Inspect the cooling system (overheat), the go
to Step 7.

INSPECT CHT SENSOR
z
Inspect the CHT sensor. (See
CYLINDER HEAD
TEMPERATURE (CHT) SENSOR
INSPECTION [MZI-3.7]

z
Is there any malfunction?
Yes Replace the CHT sensor, then go to Step 7.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FOR CORRECT PCM
OPERATION
z
Disconnect all the PCM connectors.
z
Visually inspect for:

Pushed out pins
{
Corrosion
z
Connect all the PCM connectors and
verify that they seat correctly.
z
Retrieve DTCs using the M-MDS.
z
Is the PENDING CODE for this DTC
present?
Yes Go to the next step.
No
The system is correctly. Go to the next step.
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC
P1288 HAS BEEN COMPLETED
z
Verify that all disconnected connectors
reconnected.
Yes
Replace the PCM, then go to the next step.
