VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF
DTC P0021 HAS BEEN COMPLETED
z
Make sure to reconnect all
disconnected connectors.
z
Clear the DTC from the PCM memory
using the M-MDS.
z
Turn the ignition switch off.
z
Start the engine and warm it up
completely.
z
Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Replace the PCM, then go to the next step. (See
PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI-
3.7]

No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE

Perform the "AFTER REPAIR
PROCEDURE".

Are any DTCs present?
Yes Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See

No
Troubleshooting completed.
DTC P0022
CMP timing over-retarded (LH)
DETECTION
CONDITION
z
The PCM monitors the variable valve timing position for over-retarded
camshaft timing. The test fails when the camshaft timing exceeds a maximum
calibrated value or remains in a retarded position.
POSSIBLE
CAUSE
z
OCV (LH) malfunction
z
Low engine oil pressure
z
Spool valve in the OCV (LH) is stuck in retard position
z
Improper valve timing due to timing chain slippage

No
