This book has the information needed to monitor, test, and maintain the Avaya
MultiVantage
™
software running on Avaya DEFINITY
®
Server SI, and covers
many of the faults and troubles that can occur in the system. Most maintenance
requirements are simple procedures due to the modular, self-testing nature of the
system.
Simple, traditional troubleshooting methods are sometimes sufficient to locate and
clear faults. The traditional methods include terminal substitution, visual
inspections, continuity checks, and clarification of operating procedures with
users.
The information in this book is intended for use by:
■
a maintenance technician dispatched to an Avaya DEFINITY Server site in
response to a trouble alarm or a user trouble report,
■
a maintenance technician located at a remote maintenance facility, or
■
the user’s assigned maintenance technician. The technician is expected to
have a knowledge of telecommunications fundamentals and of Avaya
MultiVantage running on Avaya DEFINITY Server SI to the extent that the
procedures in this book can be performed, in most cases, without
assistance.
