Functional Restrictions
B.4.4 UART/IrDA/CIR
The following functions are offered on the die but are not accessible outside devices in the CUS package:
•
UART2 is not a primary interface; that is, UART2 pads (pads that support UART2 in mux mode 0) are
not available on external balls. UART2 pins are accessible only on alternate pads through their muxing
capabilities (for example, through the muxing capabilities of the MCBSP3 pads). See
Control Module Pad Multiplexing Register Fields.
•
UART4 is not functional.
NOTE:
Cells highlighted in orange in
indicate pins that are not accessible through any
ball on a CUS package.

lists the base address and address space for the UART/IrDA/CIR module instances in the
devices in the CUS package.
NOTE:
The UART4, highlighted in orange in
, has removed functionality from the device
in the CUS package. Because this module is still present on the die, its mappings are
provided to control its activity and for debug purposes.

These guidelines must be followed for the UART4:
•
Keep SYSC_REG[4:3] IDLEMODE = 0x0.
•
Keep SYSC_REG[2] ENWAKEUP = 0x0.
•
Set SYSC_REG[0] AUTOIDLE = 0x1.
•
Keep all interrupts masked.
