In what order do I power down and power up the cabinets in high and critical reliability
systems? Does it really matter?
It is not necessary to power down the EPN to do an upgrade. (If the EPN is remote, you may not
even know where it is.) The order doesn’t matter for power-down, but it does for power-up. If you
did power down the EPN cabinet, power up it first, then power up the PPN cabinet.
Always power up the control cabinet last.

How do I troubleshoot DS-1/T1 board tests?

How do I set the DIP switch for duplicated systems?

For an R7/R8 upgrade, you replace the old TN772 duplication board with the new TN792
duplication board, which has a 3-position switch located on its face. Verify that the switch is in the
AUTO (central) position on both boards so the 2 processors can talk to each other.
(To lock the A SPE on line, put the switches on both boards to the A position; to lock the B SPE
on line, put the switches on both boards to the B position.)

Which flash card do I use in the TN794 NETCON circuit pack when I power up the new
R7si or R8si system?
That depends.... Check the load number on the TN790B circuit pack.
•
If the load number is not the current load number, you must upgrade the Generics. Use the
software memory card (the orange Generic card).

If the load number is the current load number, use the customer’s original translation card (the
white card containing translations).

Can I reuse the TN756 tone clock when I upgrade a System 75XE?
With the TN756, links and/or PRI may not come up. A newer tone clock (TN768 or TN2182)
should have been provided.
