The purpose of the
oam ethertype
command is the ability to change the Ethertype
according to what the standard will define without software changes.
Changing the OAM Ethertype to an Ethertype value that is used for another
protocol (e.g. 0x8100 for VLAN tag header) may cause MEF OAM not to function.
After changing the MEF OAM Ethertype, the user must save the configuration
and reset the device.
Command Syntax
device-name
(config)#
oam ethertype <ethertype>
device-name
(config)#
no oam ethertype
Argument Description
ethertype
Specifies the MEF OAM Ethertype to use. The range is <0x0000-0xFFFF>.
Example
device-name
(config)#
oam ethertype <0x0001>
% Save the configuration and RESTART the device for this setting to take
effect.
...
device-name
(config)#
no oam ethertype
% Save the configuration and RESTART the device for this setting to take
effect.
Setting Multicast Address Prefix for MEF OAM Multicasts
The
oam multicast-address
command, in Global Configuration mode, sets Multicast address
prefix to use for MEF OAM multicasts. The
no
form of this command resets the Multicast address
prefix to its default.
By default, the Multicast address prefix is 01:12:F2:10:00:00.
NOTE
After changing the MEF OAM Multicast address prefix, the user must save the
configuration and reset the device.
Command Syntax
device-name
(config)#
oam multicast-address HH:HH:HH:HH:HH:HH
device-name
(config)#
no oam multicast-address
Argument Description
HH:HH:HH:HH:HH:HH
Multicast address prefix to use for MEF OAM multicasts.
Example
device-name
(config)#
oam multicast-address 01:12:F2:10:00:00
