Setting the Default Router
The
option router
command, in DHCP Server Configuration or DHCP Subnet Configuration
mode, adds the default router/gateway for the DHCP clients. The
no
form of this command
removes the default router/gateway.
The IP address of the router should be on the same subnet as the client subnet.
Command Syntax
device-name
(config-dhcp)#
option router A.B.C.D
device-name
(config-dhcp)#
no option router
device-name
(config-dhcp-subnet)#
option router A.B.C.D
device-name
(config-dhcp-subnet)#
no option router
Argument Description
A.B.C.D
Specifies the IP address of a router.
Example
The following example adds the default router/gateway 20.20.0.100:
device-name
(config)#
service dhcp
device-name
(config-dhcp)#
option router 20.20.0.100
Setting the Subnet Mask
The
option subnet-mask
command, in DHCP Server Configuration or DHCP Subnet
Configuration mode, defines the subnet mask for the network. The
no
form of this command
removes the previously defined mask.
Command Syntax
device-name
(config-dhcp)#
option subnet-mask A.B.C.D
device-name
(config-dhcp)#
no option subnet-mask
device-name
(config-dhcp-subnet)#
option subnet-mask A.B.C.D
device-name
(config-dhcp-subnet)#
no option subnet-mask
Argument Description
A.B.C.D
The subnet mask common to all the networks if the command is configured in
DHCP Server Configuration mode or for the specific network if the command is
configured in DHCP Subnet Configuration mode.
Example 1
The following example defines a subnet mask:
device-name
#
configure terminal
device-name(
config)#
service dhcp
device-name
(config-dhcp)#
option subnet-mask 255.255.255.0
