Built-in Test
Description
Data Buffer Test
Checks the integrity of NVRAM database.
Power Supply Test
Checks the existence and status of power supply modules. When a PS
module is checked, if either a
Passed
or
Not installed
result is received, the
test state is stored as
Passed
. If a result is
Failed
, a
Failed
state is stored.
On-board Power Test
Checks the existence and status of on-board power.
Fan Test
Checks the status of the fans.
Temperature Test
Checks the temperature status.
Port Traffic Test
Performs collection of port traffic statistics in the last 5 sec, 1 min and 5
min.
Port Flapping Test
Checks the frequency of port flapping.
CPU Resources Test
Checks percentage of CPU utilization. (Periodic test).
RAM Resources Test
Checks percentage of RAM utilization. (Periodic test).
BiST Commands

Command
Description
self-test
Initiates BiST by Request.
show self-test
Issues a report on the current built-in test status (obtained by the last BiST).
Executing BiST Tests
The
self-test
command, in Privileged (Enable) mode, runs eleven BiST tests, but displays the
status of only the first seven. Execution of BiST by Request updates the statuses of test results. The
command issues a full BiST status report.
If the status of all tests is
Passed
, the
Status
LED emits a steady light.
If the status of one or more tests is
Failed
, the
Status
LED blinks.
