Performing an MEF OAM Connectivity Test
The
oam
ping
command, in Privileged (Enable) mode, performs an MEF OAM connectivity test
request for a specific MAC or broadcasts it over all known MEF OAM domains.
The Connectivity Test Request packets that are sent do not interfere with those used for two-way
test measurements and do not change the measured values.
If the
vlan
argument is not specified in the command, the Ping request will be sent to all the
VLANs defined in the MEF OAM domain configuration.
If the
domain
argument is used, the VLANs will be taken only from this domain.
For each OAM domain defined in the equipment, packets will be sent only to the ports in the range
defined for that domain.
By default, the size of the connectivity test request payload is 64 bytes.

Argument Description
HH:HH:HH:HH:HH:HH
The MAC address to ping.
broadcast
Issues ping with broadcast destination address.
vlan <vlan-id>
(Optional). VLAN number in the range <1-4093>. By default, the
test is sent to all known VLANs in existing domains. If not used
but the
domain
argument is specified, the test is sent to all
VLANs and ports configured for that domain.
priority <priority>
(Optional). If specified and the
vlan
argument is also specified,
defines 802.1p Class of Service to use for MEF OAM
Connectivity Test Request PDUs. The range is <0-7>.
timeout <seconds>
(Optional). Number of seconds to wait for a connectivity test
reply. The range is <1-60> seconds.
size <length>
(Optional). Size of the connectivity test request payload. The
range is <64-1486> bytes.
domain <domain>
(Optional). MEF OAM domain level in the range <2-255>. Must
be a valid domain number defined in the device configuration.
