Setting the Test Type and Target Address
The
type
command, in RTR Configuration mode, sets the type of the test and the target address for
testing.
By default, the type of the test is ICMP Echo.
NOTE
After entering the RTR Configuration mode with the
rtr test
command in Global
Configuration mode the user should configure the test type and assign a target IP
address. If the user does not specify the test parameters, the user cannot perform
further configurations to the test.
Command Syntax
device-name
(config-rtr)#
type
{
echo protocol icmp
|
tcpConnect
|
udpEcho
}
[
A.B.C.D

Argument Description
echo protocol
icmp
Performs an ICMP Echo test. The Internet Control Message Protocol
(ICMP) Echo operation measures end-to-end response time between the
router and devices using IP.
tcpConnect
Performs a TCP Connect test. The Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)
Connection operation is used to discover the time it takes to connect to
the target device.
udpEcho
(Optional). Performs a UDP Echo test. The User Datagram Protocol
(UDP) Echo operation calculates UDP response times between a device
and any IP enabled device.
A.B.C.D
The target IP address for testing.
HOST-NAME
The target host name.
no-route
Bypasses the routing table.
Example
device-name
(config-rtr)#
type echo protocol icmp 192.168.0.50
Setting the Content of the Data Field
The
data-fill
command, in RTR Configuration mode, sets the content of the data field of test
probes in hexadecimal format up to 1024 octets. The
no
form of this command resets the data field
to default.
By default, the data field of the probe is 0x00.
