Enabling/Disabling the TLS
The
tls
command, in Global Configuration mode, enables or disables the TLS.
NOTE
By default, all ports are set as residential ports.
Command Syntax

tls

enable

disable

Argument Description
enable
Enables the TLS.
disable
Disables the TLS.
NOTE
TLS or VPLS services may be enabled on the device but not simultaneously.
Disable VPLS services on the device before using TLS. Consult the “
Configuring
Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Hierarchical Virtual Private LAN
Services (H-VPLS)
” chapter for details on this operation.
Setting the TLS EtherType Value
The
tls ethertype
command, in Global Configuration mode, sets the EtherType value.
By default, the EtherType value is 0x8100.
NOTE
The TLS must be enabled before executing this command. To enable the TLS use
the tls enable command in Global configuration mode.

Argument Description
number
Hexadecimal VLAN EtherType value (for example 0x9000).
Setting the Interface as a TLS Core (Uplink) Port
The
tls uplink
command in Interface or AG Configuration mode, sets the interface as a TLS core
(uplink) port. The
no
form of the command sets the interface as a residential port.
The TLS core port is configured at the Provider-network side of the provider-edge (PE) switch.
