Enabling Tunneling of IEEE Control Packets
The
tls tunneled-ieee-pdu
command, in Interface Configuration mode, enables tunneling of IEEE
Control packets. The
no
form of this command disables tunneling of IEEE Control packets.
When tunneling of xSTP protocols is enabled, it allows for tunneling BPDUs between the TLS
access (user) ports over the TLS core (uplink) ports. The tunneling is done for packets with
Multicast DA of 01-80-c2-00-00-00 (STP).
The command should be set for all TLS access (user)/core (uplink) ports intended to be either
tunnel endpoints or intermediate bridges. Prior to enabling TLS tunneling, make sure the following
requirements are met:
1. TLS is globally enabled on the device (set by the
tls
command in Global Configuration mode).
2. The respective TLS access (user) ports (set by the
tls user
command in Interface Configuration
mode) and core (uplink) ports (set by the
tls uplink
command in Interface Configuration mode)
are properly set.
3. The MSTP protocol is enabled (for more information, refer to chapter “
Configuring Multiple
Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP)
”).
4. TLS user port (set by the
tls user
command in Interface Configuration mode) should be
configured as RSTP/MSTP edge-port. The processing of BPDUs is filtered on these ports.
By default, TLS tunneling is disabled.
