Command
Description
mvr mode
Sets the MVR mode of operation.
mvr vlan
Specifies the VLAN ID on which multicast data is received.
mvr group
Statically sets up all IP multicast addresses that will participate in MVR.
mvr querytime
Sets the maximum time to wait for IGMP report memberships on a receiver
port before removing the port from multicast group membership.
Enabling and Disabling MVR
The
mvr
command, in Global Configuration mode, enables/disables the MVR operation. The
no
form of this command disables MVR.
When the user disables MVR, the entire MVR configuration is erased.
By default, MVR is disabled.
NOTE
The IGMP snooping must be enabled before enabling the MVR feature.

Example
The following example shows how to enable MVR. Before using the
mvr
command, make sure
IGMP snooping is enabled.

Setting the MVR Parameters
The
mvr mode
command, in Global Configuration mode, sets the MVR mode of operation. This
mode can be either
static
or
dynamic
. The user can also use this command to set the other MVR
parameters as:
•
IP multicast groups
•
The source VLAN
•
Query-time.
The
dynamic
MVR mode forces multicast router to send data traffic to the source port for all
configured groups. The
static
MVR mode forwards client’s joins to source ports for all groups.
By default, the MVR mode is
dynamic
.
