Bronze traffic class is assigned to web traffic. We shall assign ~20% of the interface bandwidth
to this class, giving it preference lower than the Silver class.
We shall consider all other traffic to belong to “best-effort” traffic class, and shape it to 64 kbps.
In order to provide for the various traffic classes, we need to classify the traffic according to DSCP
values in a DiffServ domain. This requires us to pre-mark the traffic with the appropriate DSCP
values when it enters the network. In the example shown in
Figure 10
, the pre-marking should be
done in the ingress direction of interface 1/1/9 of Remote router 1 and of interface 1/1/10 of
Remote router 2. We can do this through an input service policy.
