Configuration Examples
Configuring GVRP VLAN Registration
The following example is based on
Figure 17
. The example shows how to configure the switches
in the network in order to enable the GVRP to advertise the VLANs.
Configuring Switch 1:
1. Enter into Protocol Configuration mode from Global Configuration mode:
device-name
#
configure terminal
device-name
(config)#
protocol
2. Enable GVRP on the switch. Note that when GVRP is enabled, only 64
VLANs are supported):
device-name
(cfg protocol)#
gvrp enable
Only the first 64 vlans will be saved, proceed? [y/n] :
y
device-name
(cfg protocol)#
exit
3. Create VLAN ID 10 and enter into this VLAN configuration mode:
device-name
(config)#
vlan
device-name
(config vlan)#
create gvrp_vlan 10
device-name
(config vlan)#
config gvrp_vlan
4. Add ports 1/1/1 and 1/1/2 as untagged to VLAN 10. These ports will be
connected to the users:
device-name
(config-vlan gvrp_vlan)#
add ports 1/1/1,1/1/2 untagged
device-name
(config-vlan gvrp_vlan)#
add ports default 1/1/1,1/1/2
device-name
(config-vlan gvrp_vlan)#
exit
device-name
(config vlan)#
config default
device-name
(config-vlan default)#
remove ports 1/1/1,1/1/2
device-name
(config-vlan default)#
end
5. Display the dynamic VLANs before they are learned by GVRP:
