Command Syntax

CONFIRM-PASSWORD
Argument Description
PASSWORD
A character string without blank spaces. The password is case
sensitive. It is recommended to use a string of up to 64 characters.
CONFIRM-PASSWORD
Type the password again for confirmation.
Example
The following command sets the password to
switch12
:

password switch12 switch12

Setting a Password to Access Privileged (Enable) Mode
The
enable password
command, in Global Configuration mode, sets a password to access
Privileged (Enable) mode from View mode. The
no
form of this command removes the password.
When a password is set by the
enable password
command, a prompt for the password is issued in
response to the
enable
command in View mode.
By default, no password is required to access Privileged (Enable) mode.
