Sample DiffServ Implementation

shows a sample DiffServ implementation with two remote routers 1 and 2, and a central
router between them.

Our goal is to provide end-to-end QoS to several different types of traffic classes, described in
descending order of preference as follows:
•
Platinum (or Premium) class is assigned to voice traffic. It should be forwarded with the lowest
delay possible up to a maximum of 50MBps during periods of congestion.
•
Gold class is assigned to RADIUS sessions. We shall assign ~50% of the interface bandwidth
to this class.
Silver class is assigned to Telnet, Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), and FTP sessions. We
shall assign ~30% of the interface bandwidth to this class, giving it preference lower than the
Gold class.
