GVRP Configuration Guidelines
Follow these guidelines when configuring GVRP:
•
The user must enable GVRP on both ends of an 802.1Q link.
•
When enabling GVRP, the number of allowed VLANs is decreased to 64.
NOTE
GVRP uses a single Access List resource for each Gigabit Ethernet port/group of 8
Fast-Ethernet ports.
For more details on resource allocation of Access Lists, please refer to the
“
Configuring Access Control Lists (ACLs)
” chapter.

Changing the Global GVRP Status
The
gvrp

When GVRP is enabled, VLANs are allowed to learn details of neighboring VLANs and to apply
self-configuration settings based on the information that is learned.
When GVRP is enabled, the number of VLANs supported on the device is reduced
to 64. When
GVRP is disabled, the device can support 4K VLANs (in the ID range <2-4093>).
By default, GVRP is disabled.
