OSPF expects to receive an acknowledgement for each advertisement it sends to an adjacent router.
If no acknowledgment is received, the router retransmits the advertisement to that neighbor. The
retransmit-interval timer determines the interval between retransmissions.
Command Syntax
device-name
(config-if
swN
)#
ip ospf retransmit-interval
<
seconds
>
device-name
(config-if
swN
)#
no ip ospf retransmit-interval
Argument Description
seconds
Assigned retransmit-interval, in the range <3-65535>.
Example
The following example sets the retransmit-interval value to 8 seconds:
device-name
(config)#
interface sw2
device-name
(config-if sw2)#
ip ospf retransmit-interval 8
Setting the OSPF Transmit Delay
The
ip ospf transmit-delay
command and the
ospf transmit-delay
command, in IP Interface
Configuration mode, set the estimated number of seconds it takes to transmit a link state update
packet on an IP interface. The
no
form of the commands sets the transmit delay to the default value
of 1 second.
The transmit-delay timer increments the age of LSA update packets on the IP interface to provide
room for transmission and propagation delays. The timer is more significant in low-speed links.
Command Syntax
device-name
(config-if sw
N
)#
ip ospf transmit-delay
<
seconds
>
device-name
(config-if sw
N
)#
no ip ospf transmit-delay
Argument Description
seconds
The number of seconds required to transmit an LSA packet, in the range <1-
65535>.
Example
The following example sets the transmit-delay value to 3 seconds:
device-name
(config)#
interface sw2
device-name
(config-if sw2)#
ip ospf transmit-delay 3
Configuring OSPF Traffic Engineering (TE)
Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) traffic engineering (TE) provides traffic management capabilities
into IP networks. Traffic engineering enables more effective use of network resources by providing
for the setup of explicitly routed Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) label-switched paths
(LSPs) that satisfy resource and administrative constraints. OSPF is used to exchange link resource
and traffic-engineering administrative information between routers. OSPF uses this information to
