Switch2(cfg protocol)#
mstp fast-ring ring-ports 1/1/9 1/1/10
Switch2(cfg protocol)#
mstp learn-mode temporary-disabled 2
3. Enable the Spanning tree IGMP fast recovery:
Switch2(cfg protocol)#
spanning-tree igmp-fast-recovery
Switch2(cfg protocol)#
exit
4. Set port 1/1/12 as an edge port:
Switch2(config)#
interface 1/1/12
Switch2(config-if 1/1/12)#
mstp edge-port
Switch2(config-if 1/1/12)#
exit
5. Enable IGMP snooping and set interfaces 1/1/9 and 1/1/10 as mrouter ports:
Switch2(config)#
ip igmp snooping
Switch2(config)#
ip igmp snooping vlan 1 mrouter interface 1/1/9
Switch2(config)#
ip igmp snooping vlan 1 mrouter interface 1/1/10
Configuration of Switch 3:
1. Enable the MSTP Protocol:
Switch3#
configure terminal
Switch3(config)#
protocol
Switch3(cfg protocol)#
mstp enable
2. Enable MSTP Fast ring for accelerating its operation in ring topology:
Switch3(cfg protocol)#
mstp fast-ring ring ports 1/1/1 1/1/2
Switch3(cfg protocol)#
mstp
learn-mode temporary-disabled 2
Switch3(cfg protocol)#
exit
3. Set the port 1/1/8 as an edge port:
Switch3(config)#
interface 1/1/8
Switch3(config-if 1/1/8)#
mstp edge-port
Switch3(config-if 1/1/8)#
exit
4. Enable IGMP snooping and set interfaces 1/1/1 and 1/1/2 as mrouter ports:
Switch3(config)#
ip igmp snooping
Switch3(config)#
ip igmp snooping vlan 1 mrouter interface 1/1/1
Switch3(config)#
ip igmp snooping vlan 1 mrouter interface 1/1/2
MSTP BPDU Guard, Loop Guard, Restricted Root and Restricted
TCN Configuration
Following is a configuration example for MSTP BPDU guard, Loop guard, Restricted Root and
Restricted TCN Configuration.
Figure 11
shows a network configuration with triangle topology
followed by the configuration of the three switches. BPDU guard, Restricted Root and Restricted
TCN are enabled on edge ports (1/1/8) to protect the backbone network from unauthorized user
intervention in MSTP. Loop guard is enabled on Switch 2 and 3 for the ports connected to the root
Switch 1.
