Battery Capacity Re-Calibration on V3/V4 Control Stations
1. From behind the Browser, launch a command window (see
Launching a Command Line Window
A command window appears with an ADS prompt.
2. Change to the
/export/home/insite/browser
directory, by entering:
cd /export/home/insite/browser
3. Connect to the UPS web-based diagnostics, by entering:
mozilla-bin http://localhost:3052
4. At the login page that appears, specify
root
for the username and
root
for the password.
5. Note that the calibration process will not start if the battery charge is less than 100%. To display
Bat-
tery Capacity
, select from the left menu
Smart-UPS 750 RM ->Status
.
6. Prevent the system from being shut down during the calibration process, do the following:
a. Select the left menu
Event
, then
Actions
, and click on the
Battery discharged
event.
b. Under the
Command file
item, uncheck the
Enable command file execution
checkbox.
c. Under
Shutdown
, uncheck the
Initiate Shutdown Sequence
checkbox.
d. Click on the
Apply
button.
e. Click on the
Insufficient Runtime Available
event.
f. Under
Shutdown
uncheck the
Initiate Shutdown Sequence
checkbox.
g. Click on the
Apply
button.
7. Start the calibration process. To do this, select in left menu
Smart-UPS 750 RM->Select Diagnos-
tic
, under item
Initiate diagnostic
select diagnostic action
Runtime calibration
, then click the
Apply
button.
8. During the test and calibration process, the following events occur:
-
The
ON line
led (B) is off, and the
On Battery
led (E) is on.
-
The UPS beeps.
-
The UPS charge indicator decreases.
Check the test status by clicking on left menu
Diagnostics
under
Smart-UPS 750 RM
.
Wait until the
Initiate Diagnostics
staus changes from
(Runtime calibration in progress)
to
(Run-
time calibration currently unavailable).
Note:
Once you launch a test, the Runtime calibration is not available because battery is in the process
of being discharged.
When the Runtime Calibration test is complete the
Runtime Calibration
date is updated.
9. Shutdown the AWS system as follows:
a. Select menu
Shutdown now
under
Protected System "Shutdown now"
. You may need to
login again (as username
root
, password
root
) if session has expired.
b. Change the
Begin OS Shutdown Sequence In
value to
1
second.
c. Select the
UPS Shutdown
type,
Manual Restart
.
d. Click on the
Apply
button.
e. Acknowledge the shutdown.
With the AWS system powered off and power applied to the UPS, the battery takes 45-60 minutes to
recharge.
