INTRODUCTION
•
The Senographe DS Acquisition System is a product which continuously evolves to meet new needs
and to take account of component improvements and obsolescence.
•
This manual is intended to be applicable to all versions of the system.
•
System changes are summarized in section
System historyOverview Chronogram
of this module.
This chart shows the main manufacturing versions in chronographic order. It shows the main Field
Modification Instructions and hardware and software changes applicable to each manufacturing ver-
sion. It indicates the corresponding
Technical Releases
, and the evolution of associated technical
publications.
•
The evolution and compatibility of the main electronic components are summarized in section
ponent FW/SW to ADS Version compatibility Matrix
of this module. It indicates PI numbers used in
each main version, and which components are backwards compatible.
•
New versions may be introduced in manufacturing, or an existing system may be modified by the
application of an FMI (Field Modification Instruction). Changes may also occur to individual systems
when a component fails and is replaced by a newer version.
•
Some replacement components/FRUs and some service procedures may be applicable only to cer-
tain versions of the system. The document module
identifies
these components and procedures by
Compatibility codes
, which are described and defined in sec-
of this module.

MANUFACTURING VERSION IDENTIFICATION AND LABELING

How to Identify Your System
As the Senographe DS system evolves, successive manufacturing versions exist for the same system
name. You can identify the manufacturing version of your Senographe DS system by viewing the follow-
ing two items together:
•
the
model number
on the system identification label, which can be found on the cover of the Genera-
tor Cabinet for newer systems, and on the back of the Gantry column covers for older systems.
Illustration 1 on

systems, and Illustration 2 on

Penduick and above systems.
