specify the sketching work plane. Set Work Plane
realign the eave heights of different boundary lines of a roof
footprint. This option is available when you are sketching a
footprint roof. Align Eaves
place a ceiling above sketched walls. This option is available
when you are sketching a ceiling. Auto Ceiling
create the boundary lines for stairs or ramps. Boundary
create the risers for stairs or ramps. Riser
create a run of stairs or a ramp. Run
display and modify properties for the element you are
sketching. <element type> Properties
exit sketch mode and save changes. Finish Sketch
exit sketch mode and discard changes. Quit Sketch
Using Constraints When Sketching
You can use constraints while you are sketching by pressing Shift as you draw. Shift constraints works as
follows:
■ Constrains straight lines and radii of polygons to horizontal or vertical lines.
■ Limits the chords of 3-point arcs, the radii of arcs from center and end points, and the axis of ellipses to
multiples of 45 degrees.
■ Limits 2-point and 3-point arcs to 90, 180, or 270 degrees.
Sketching a Line
1 On the Design Bar, select a tool that allows for a line, such as Lines.
2 On the Options Bar:
a Click (Line).
b Optionally, select Offset and specify a value.
c Optionally, select Radius and specify a value.
A radius creates fillets at the specified radius between line segments, allowing you to create
a rounded chain of lines. A line must be joined to the end of another line for a fillet to
display. If a line is connected to more than one line, a fillet cannot be created.
