TERMINALS
7.1.2 Functional Outline
The DSS console is used as a DSS console (DSS/BLF) or an DSS console (ADM) depending on the following
two factors:
Level Number (even or odd) of the allocated LENs for the DSS console
Office Data Programming
Note:
For office data programming, refer to Direct Station Selection (DSS) Console [D-149] in Data Program-
ming Manual - Business.
Direct Station Selection/Busy Lamp Field (DSS/BLF) Mode
A DSS console can be connected to each Digital terminal. The DSS console expands the Line keys of a
Digital terminal, in the DSS/BLF mode. When the DSS console receives a call, the Digital terminal user
can transfer the incoming call to an assigned destination by pressing the appropriate key on the console,
while the caller is automatically placed on hold. This mode is called Direct Station Selection (DSS). Also
each key on the console has a Light Emitting Diode (LED) so that DSS console can indicate the Busy/
Idle status of each assigned station. This mode is called Busy Lamp Field (BLF) mode.
Direct Station Selection (DSS) / Busy Lamp Field (BLF) Mode
DSS function: Digital terminal user can transfer a DID/DIT call to a preassigned
destination by pressing a DSS key on the console.
BLF function: Digital terminal user can monitor Busy/Idle status of preassigned
stations.

• When a station which has been assigned
to this DSS console (DSS/BLF) is busy,
the associated LED lights red.
