22. MG-SIP16 [SCA-16SIPMG(US)]
22.1 What is MG-SIP16?
MG-SIP16 [SCA-16SIPMG(US)] is an Media Gateway to provide the system with Session Initiation Pro-
tocol (SIP) interface. It enables the system to build multi-service and reliable Voice over IP (VoIP) networks
using SIP defined by IETF. SIP is an application-layer control protocol that can initiate call setup, routing,
authentication and transferring other feature messages to endpoints.
Up to 16 channels of extensions in the network can communicate to the outside SIP network via an MG-
SIP16 at the same time. As MG-SIP16 complies with small and middle sized remote offices flexibly, more
offices can profit Peer-to-Peer VoIP services using IP telephone.
Equivalent to 96-channel type of MG-SIP, MG-SIP16 supports the SIP standard terminals based on
RFC3261. Thereby, MG-SIP16 controlled by Internal PHI-BRI (
) of Telephony Server provides a
full array of the call routing capabilities to maximize network performance in the packet voice network (SIP
network). MG-SIP16 provides the system with a flexible and cost-efficient network environment without
wasting the accumulated assets of the Telephony Server services.
SCA-16SIPMG(US) is MG-SIP16 for card type.
Note 2:
Internal PHI-BRI is installed in the Telephony Server to control the signaling between the Telephony Server
and MG-SIP via external Ethernet of the Telephony Server.
Note:
Available only in North America.
