Operation
NOTE
: When using an ultrasonic washer or the like,
follow its instruction manual.
3.7.1 Degassing and Decontamination of Mobile Phase
(1) Be sure to degas the mobile phase before its use.
Oxygen, nitrogen and other gases contained in the mobile
phase will cause the following if used at a high pressure;
<1> deterioration of mobile phase/sample, <2> fall in
column efficiency due to bubbles, <3> increase in detector
noise due to bubbles, <4> fluctuations of pump pressure
and <5> degradation of gradient mixing ratio accuracy.
(2) The mobile phase can be degassed with a degassing unit
or manually. Degassing method is explained in 3.7.2.
(3) Be sure to use the mobile phase which does not contain
dust.
If “dust” enters the pump, a trouble will be caused, e.g., the
pump does not deliver liquid or its pressure fluctuates.
