85.Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol
(VRRP) Command List
VRRP is a function to group multiple routers (VRRP group) and
manage routers in a group as one virtual router. It is used to multiplex
routers for disaster planning.
A virtual IP address and a virtual MAC address are assigned to a VRRP
group, and other devices on the network communicate with the virtual
router through the virtual address.
Routers in a VRRP are divided into one master router which actually
performs routing, and other backup routers. They are automatically
allocated based on the priority settings through information exchanges
between VRRP enabled routers. If the master router fails, one of the
backup routers automatically becomes the master router.
