Water Properties
You can define the following properties for water materials on the
Render Appearance tab
of the Materials
dialog.
Description
Property
Type of water source.
Type
Color of the water (available when Type is not Swimming Pool). Select a predefined
water color, or select Custom to specify a color.
Color
Relative height of waves in the water. Enter a value between 0 (no waves) and 5 (big
waves), or use the slider.
Wave Height
Wood Properties
You can define the following properties for wood materials on the
Render Appearance tab
of the Materials
dialog.
Description
Property
The image to use to represent the surface of the wood (the wood grain). See
Specifying
an Image File for a Render Appearance
on page 476.
Image File
Whether the wood is stained.
Stain
Color of the wood stain (when Stain is Color). Click the color swatch. In the Color
dialog, select a color. (See
Colors
on page 514.) Click OK.
Stain Color
Texture of the finished surface.
Finish
Purpose of the wood: Flooring or Furniture.
Used For
Bump pattern to use on the finished surface. To define bumps using an image, select
Custom. See
Specifying an Image File for a Render Appearance
on page 476.
Bump
Relative depth of the wood grain, when Bump is Based on wood grain. Enter 0 for a
flat surface, a positive number (between 0 and 10) to raise the grain, or a negative
number (between 0 and –10) to reverse the grain.
Amount
Transparency and Translucency
When defining a render appearance that uses
Generic Material Properties
, remember that reflections on a
surface are created by light bouncing off it. Of the light that strikes a surface, the Transparency and
Translucency properties specify the amount of light that bounces off the surface rather than passing through
or being absorbed by it.
