In addition, you can copy a linked Revit model between projects within the same Revit session. When you
copy a linked Revit model to another project, the link path, shared positioning settings, visible nested links,
and the link instance name are copied to the new project. If the link instance name already exists in the
project, the link is automatically renamed. Partially loaded files are maintained as partially loaded. Visibility
and graphic override settings are not preserved.
To copy a linked Revit model to another project file:

Open the project file that contains the link to copy, and open the file to copy it into.

Select the linked model in the Project Browser (under Revit Links) or in the drawing area.

Click Edit menu

Copy to Clipboard.

Click Window menu, and select the project name to copy the linked model into.

Paste from Clipboard.

Click in the drawing area to place the linked model.
NOTE
If you selected the link to copy from the Project Browser rather than the drawing area, you
may need to right-click the link name in the Project Browser (under Revit Links) and then click Create
Instance before you can place the linked model in the drawing area.

On the Options Bar, click Finish to complete the paste operation.
If you want to edit the pasted linked model, click Edit Pasted Elements. See

Copying Elements from a Linked Revit Model
Elements from linked Revit models can be copied to the clipboard and then pasted into the host model.
To copy and paste elements from linked Revit models:

In the drawing area, move the cursor over the element in the linked model you want to copy.

TAB
until the element to copy is highlighted, and click to select it.

Click Edit menu

Copy to Clipboard.

Navigate to the location in the project where you want to paste the element.

Paste from Clipboard.
Alternatively, you can click Edit menu

Click in the drawing area to place the element.
Visibility for Linked Revit Models
Parameters that control the visibility and appearance of linked Revit models are grouped under their own
tab, Revit Links, in the Visibility/Graphics dialog. This dialog is arranged in a tree structure with the parent
nodes referring to separate files (the primary linked model), and the child nodes referring to instances (copies)
of the model in the project. Changing the parent node affects all instances, while changing a child node
affects only that instance.
