Flip Control for Work Plane-based Families
After you save and load a work plane-based family into the project, you can flip it about its work plane in
a view.
Select the family instance in the project, and a Flip Work Plane control displays
. Click the Flip Work
Plane control to rotate the family instance 180 degrees about the x-axis of the work plane. You can also
right-click the instance, and click Flip Work Plane.
Family Category Tips
■
Entourage and plant families have a parameter called Rendering Appearance Source in the Family Category
and Parameters dialog. The parameter value determines how the family renders in a project view.
■
If the Rendering Appearance Source is Third Party, when you render the family in a project, Revit
Architecture uses that content and ignores the family geometry.
■
If the Rendering Appearance Source is Family Geometry, Revit Architecture renders the actual family
geometry.
Loading a Family into Projects or Families
After you have completed the creation or modification of a family, you can save the family to a library or
load it directly into any open project or family (this would create a nested family). When you select Load
into Projects on the Design Bar, if only one other project or family is open in the background, the family is
automatically loaded into it. If multiple projects or families are open, a dialog displays allowing you to select
which projects or families you want to load the family into.
Load into Projects
1
After you modify or create a new family, on the Design Bar, click Load into Projects, or click
File menu
➤
Load into Projects.
If there is only one other open project or family, the family is loaded directly into it.
2
If there is more than one open project or family, the Load into Projects dialog displays. Select
which projects and families you want to load the family into, and click OK.
3
If the family is being used within the project you are loading it into, a dialog displays asking if
you want to overwrite the existing family. Click Yes to overwrite or No to cancel.
