QUEST Character Verification
The QUEST Character Verification processing item (QUEST OCV) is used to
recognize alphanumeric characters and symbols.
Expiration dates, lot numbers, and other characters can be found (in a process
called a “quest”) without being affected by variations or deformities.
Standards characters do not need to be registered because the shape charac-
teristics of many character fonts are registered in the internal dictionary.
