What is i-
α
ppli?
You can use i-
α
ppli applications to customize and enhance your i-mode compatible
mobile phone. For example, you can download and play games or use a downloaded
stock information i-
α ppli program to automatically check stock prices at regular
intervals. Smooth scrolling is possible for map i-
α
ppli because only required data is
downloaded. In addition, storing data directly in the Phonebook or Schedule and
reading or saving images from/to My picture are also possible if you use some
interlocked type i-
α ppli programs.

Some i- α ppli programs access, save or work with data stored in your i-mode compatible mobile
phone (Phonebook entries, Bookmarks, schedule entries, images, and icon information). The
following operations can be performed using stored data:

Save phonebook entries

Add Bookmarks
•
Save schedule entries
•
Read images from My Picture
•
Save images to My Picture
•
Some software uses the mobile phone information of i-mode compatible mobile phones (model number,
manufacturer serial number, etc).

Some applications access communication capabilities while running. You can set your mova to not perform
communication.
What is i- α ppli DX?
The i-
α
ppli DX allows you to take advantage of the most advanced i-
α
ppli functionality. By linking your
i-mode compatible mobile phone information (such as mail, Dial/Call history, and Phonebook data), you
can, for example, compose mail in your favorite character screen or be notified by your favorite
character when receiving mail. You can also link i-
α
ppli to your mail and receive latest stock information
and game statistics in real time. (see p.424)

Some i-

ppli DX programs can access, save or work with stored data such as mail, Redial data, Call
history, and ringtones in addition to stored data (phonebook entries, bookmarks, schedule entries,
images, and icon information) that can be used by regular i-
