Entering alphanumeric characters
Single-byte or double-byte alphabetic and numeric characters and symbols such as “@” can be
entered in alphabetic mode. The numeric mode allows you to enter single-byte numeric
characters.
•
The reading entered in kanji mode can be converted to roman letters.

In the Phonebook entry screen, select the “name” field and press
(select).
The character entry screen for the “name” field appears.
•
The alphabetic mode appears first.
•
Selecting the field and pressing any character-assigned numeric key will open the character
entry screen and entry is enabled immediately.

•

Pressing
after entry converts the letter from uppercase to lowercase and vice-versa.

If you make a mistake, use
to delete the character, and reenter the correct one.

When

is pressed, it is not necessary to move the cursor even if the characters are
assigned to the same key.
•
When a different key is pressed while entering characters, the cursor moves automatically.
•
Press
to display characters in reverse order.
Press
immediately after entering a character and characters are displayed in reverse order compared
to the way they are entered using the numeric keys.
This function is available in the alphabetic mode, kanji mode, and kana mode.
•
Characters cannot be displayed in reverse order after moving the cursor.
