i-mode mail/Chat mail/i-shot mail
• If the double-byte symbols shown within or pictographs are sent to any phone other than an
i-mode compatible mobile phone, they may not be displayed properly in the recipient’s phone.
• Pictographs 2 will not be displayed correctly if they are sent to mobile phones or PCs that do not support
an i-mode mobile phone.

Short Mail
• If the double-byte symbols shown within are used in the Short Mail body, they will not be received
correctly.
• If single-byte symbols or pictographs are used in the message of Short Mail, they may not be displayed
correctly on the recipient’s phone.
When using symbols and pictographs in the mail body
In addition to the symbols listed in each character assignment table, the symbols listed
below can also be entered.
•
The screen display may differ from characters and symbols shown in the list.
■ Symbols Entry procedure (see p.562,568)
* indicates linefeed (this is available only when composing the i-mode mail/i-shot mail/Chat mail body
or editing a signature). In the Chat mail body, linefeed occurs during composition, but replaced by
single-byte space in the Chat mail screen when the mail is sent.

When only single-byte characters can be entered, only single-byte symbols can be entered. However,
if only single-byte alphanumeric characters can be entered, single-byte symbols shown within
will not be entered.
•
Single-byte symbols cannot be entered when entering “
きごう
” and converting in kanji mode.
