ail
You can send text messages to i-mode compatible mobile phones and other mobile
phones that can use the Short Mail Service.
•
Maximum number of characters that can be sent: 50 single-byte or double-byte characters
•
You cannot send Short Mail to PCs via the Internet.
•
Short Mail can be sent even if you are not an i-mode subscriber.
•
Sending Short Mail incurs call charges.
•
If you send Short Mail without entering the text body, it cannot be sent. Note that the call charge
is also added in this case.
You can use the following procedures to send your Caller ID to another party.
•
If Caller ID Notification is set to “yes”, your Caller ID is sent to the other party when you send
Short Mail.
•
You can also select whether to send your Caller ID when you send mail.

Set the recipient in the compose Short Mail screen.
Use the numeric keys to enter the recipient phone number or search through the entries in the
Phonebook.

Each time
is pressed, the display changes as shown below:
A 184 prefix is added
No Caller ID is sent
A 186 prefix is added
Caller ID is sent
Only the recipient phone
number is displayed
The Caller ID Notification setting determines
whether the Caller ID is sent or not

You can also use the numeric keys to enter a “184” or “186” prefix before a phone number.
•
You can also add a “184” or “186” prefix before a phone number even if you have saved the phone
number with these prefixes in a
Phonebook
entry. (You can use
to select whether to send your
Caller ID when sending mail.)
Sending your Caller ID
•
You cannot send Short Mail when Keydial Lock is set.
•
If there is not enough free space in the Outmail box (when there are a total of 200 unsent and
protected mail items including i-mode mail, Short Mail, and i-shot mail), you cannot compose
new Short Mail.
•
You can receive a call while composing Short Mail. The compose Short Mail screen reappears
after the call.
•
You cannot search for a recipient using the Phonebook when Phonebook Access Lock is set.
Composing and Sending Short Mail

In standby, select “short mail” from the mail menu.
The compose Short Mail screen appears.

To change the character size in the compose Short Mail screen

Select “CHAR size” from the submenu.

Select a character size and press
(select).
•
Once you change the size of characters, mail is displayed with the
changed character size until changed again.
•
When the size is changed, the character size in the compose mail
screen also changes.
