You can scan the JAN code and the QR code by using the camera. Using the
scanned text information, you can perform such as Phone to, Mail to, Web to, adding
Bookmark/Phonebook entry, and displaying/copying/pasting of strings. You can also
scan the image/melody data which can be played back or saved.
•
The JAN code is one of the barcode that represents numbers with vertical lines (bars) with
different widths.
•
The QR code is one type of barcode that represents data in both vertical and horizontal
directions. Data may be alphanumeric characters, character strings (kanji, kana, and
pictograph), images and melodies.

Select “1.start scan” and press
(select).

In standby, press
and select “bar code reader”.
Scanning codes
•
Alternatively, you can select “camera”
“bar code reader” from the menu.
•
You can also select “camera”
“bar code reader” from the sub-display menu. Open the lens
cover and proceed to Step 4.
•
You can switch either from the Still Image Photography screen or the Video Photography screen
(see p.134).

Close the mova, and open the lens cover.
The code scanning screen appears in the Inspiration window.
•
To exit from Barcode Reader, press
or close the lens cover. Alternatively, you can exit by
opening the mova and pressing
(cancel).
•
If no key is pressed for about 3 minutes, Barcode Reader will exit itself.

Scanning may fail due to scratches, smearing, tears, printing errors, and glare on the paper, and/or QR
code versions.
•
Barcodes other than JAN and QR codes cannot be scanned.
