ettings

Turning the Compact light on

When you take still images or video in a dark place, use the Compact light to light up
the subject.

•

If the Compact light is on, it is lit during the close shooting. In Still Image Photography, the
Compact light flashes much brighter when the shutter is pressed.

•

The Compact light is used as the auxiliary light when the light amount is insufficient and it is not
as bright as the strobe light. Take an image by monitoring the photography screen to check that
you are not too far away from a subject.

•

When you open the mova while the Compact light is on, it is turned off and the “light mode on”
screen appears.

•

“light mode on” is the screen in which the photography screen is reduced to
increase the white portion, making the main display brighter to illuminate the
subject. (This is an auxiliary light source weaker than the Compact light.)

•

You can perform the setting with the mova open, and then close it and take still images or video
with the new settings.

•

The setting is valid until shooting is completed.

Press and hold down

while the Still Image Photography screen or the Video

Photography screen is displayed.

The Compact light is turned on.

•

To turn the light off, press and hold down

again.

•

For Open Shoot, you can also turn on/off the light by pressing

or selecting “light on” or “light

off” from the submenu.

•

For Close Shoot, you can also turn on/off the light by selecting “compact light on” or “compact
light off” from the photography menu.

•

You can adjust the brightness of the Compact light (see p.154).

•

Changing the brightness of the Compact light does not affect the brightness of the following:

•

Flash light when the shutter is pressed for Still Image Photography.

•

The “light mode on” screen for Open Shoot

•

During burst shooting or video recording, the Compact light keeps normal light amount.

•

Some photo modes, such as “night” and “super sensitivity up”, need 2 seconds or more to complete taking
one still image. In such a mode, about 2 seconds after flashing, the Compact light returns to the state
before pressing the shutter.
