SSL communication
Without additional operations, your i-mode compatible mobile phone can display SSL compatible
pages (SSL page). An abbreviation for Secure Sockets Layer, SSL is a safe communication system
that uses authentication and encryption technologies to protect your privacy. In SSL pages, data is
encrypted when it is sent and received. This prevents eavesdropping, spoofing, and tampering with
data during communication, thus information such as credit card numbers and other customer
information can be safely exchanged (see p.274).

Infrared communication function
The mova can send and receive Phonebook, mail, Bookmark and other data with mobile phones or
PCs with an infrared communication capability.*
In addition, using infrared communication with i-

ppli, you can utilize your phone in a wide range of
ways in conjunction with other infrared-equipped devices. Your mova can be used for different
functions such as membership card and as a remote control for the TV set.

i-melody
You can download the latest melodies or your favorite melodies in your i-mode compatible mobile
phone and set them to ringtones (see p.295).

i-anime
You can download your favorite animation images and save them in your i-mode compatible mobile
phone, and set them on the Standby screen or the call reception screen (see p.292).

Message Service
By applying for a site that offers a Message Service, you can automatically have desired information
(message) sent to your i-mode compatible mobile phone. There are two types of messages, Message
R (Request) and Message F (Free).
Spoofing: this is when a third person masquerades as a
site to illegally acquire customer information.
