Enable message digest 5 (MD5) authentication on the TCP connection between two neighbors.

Syntax
neighbor { ip-address | peer-group-name } password [ encryption-
type ] password
To delete a password, use the
no neighbor { ip-address | peer-group-
name } password
command.
Parameters
ip-address Enter the IP address of the router to be included in the peer
group.
peer-group-
name Enter the name of a configured peer group.
encryption-
type (OPTIONAL) Enter

as the encryption type for the password
entered.
7
means that the password is encrypted and hidden.
password
Enter a text string up to 80 characters long. The first
character of the password must be a letter.
You cannot use spaces in the password.
Defaults Not configured.

Usage
Information
This command automatically restarts the neighbor session for the configuration to
take effect.
Configure the same password on both BGP peers or a connection does not occur.
When you configure MD5 authentication between two BGP peers, each segment
