1
Is fuel pump heard to operate 3 se-
conds after ignition switch is turned to
ON position?
Fuel pump and its circuit are in good
condition.
Go to step 2.
2
1) With ignition switch at OFF posi-
tion, remove fuel pump relay fuse/
relay box.
2) Using service wire, connect be-
tween two terminals.
3) Is fuel pump heard to operate
when terminals are connected?
Go to step 3.
“P” wire open, poor fuel
pump relay-to-connec-
tor connection or faulty
fuel pump.
3
1) Check fuel pump relay, referring to
FUEL PUMP RELAY of FUEL DE-
LIVERY SYSTEM in this section.
2) Is it in good condition?
Poor fuel pump relay-to-connector
connection, “P” wire open or poor “C4”
connection.
If wire and connection are OK, substi-
tute a known-good ECM/PCM and re-
check.
NOTE:
Before substituting a known-good
ECM/PCM, check to make sure that
resistance of coil in relay is as spe-
cified.
Faulty fuel pump relay.
