INSTALLATION
NOTE:
Check clearance between booster piston rod and primary pis-
ton. (Refer to BRAKE BOOSTER INSPECTION AND ADJUST-
MENT.)
1) Install master cylinder to booster and torque mounting nuts to
specification.
For RH steering vehicle, install push rod seal (1) and gasket to
master cylinder (2).
Tightening Torque
(a): 13 N·m (1.3 kg-m, 9.5 lb-ft)
2) Attach hydraulic lines and torque flare nuts and bolts to specifi-
cation.
Tightening Torque
(b): 16 N·m (1.6 kg-m, 11.5 lb-ft)
(c): 23 N·m (2.3 kg-m, 16.5 lb-ft)
(d): 11 N·m (1.1 kg-m, 8.0 lb-ft)
3) Connect reservoir lead wire and battery negative cable.
4) Fill reservoir with specified brake fluid.
5) After installation, bleed air from system (Refer to AIR BLEED-
ING OF BRAKE SYSTEM.)
6) Perform brake test and check each installed part for fluid leak-
age.

BRAKE BOOSTER
REMOVAL
1) Remove master cylinder assembly from booster.
2) Disconnect vacuum hose from booster.
3) Disconnect negative cable. Disconnect positive cable and then
remove battery and its tray (LH steering vehicle).
4) Disconnect A/C dual pressure switch connector (LH steering,
if equipped).
Detach A/C low pressure side hose clamp (RH steering, if
equipped).
5) Detach relay box from its bracket (LH steering).
Remove intake manifold (RH steering).
6) Remove push rod clevis pin and then remove brake booster.
CAUTION:
Never disassemble brake booster. Disassembly will
spoil its original function. If faulty condition is found, re-
place it with new one.
