3 Is engine idle speed kept at specified
speed even with A/C switch turned ON?
Engine idle speed : 900 – 1000 rpm
IAC system is in good condi-
tion.
Go to step 4.
4 1) Check IAC valve for its resistance, re-
ferring to IAC VALVE INSPECTION in
this section.
2) Is it in good condition?
Go to step 5. Faulty IAC valve.
5 Check “R/B”, “R/W”, “R/B”, “R/Y” and
“B/R” wire for open and short.
Are they in good condition?
Go to step 6. Repair or replace.
6 Check TP sensor for adjusting properly by
referring TP SENSOR ADJUSTMENT.
Is it adjusted properly?
Go to Step 7. Adjust correctly.
7 Check fuel cut operation by referring to
FUEL CUT OPERATION INSPECTION.
Is fuel cut operation in good condition?
Proceed to IMPROPER EN-
GINE IDLE SPEED in DIAG-
NOSTIC TABLE.
Inspect items other than
FAULTY IDLE AIR CON-
TROL SYSTEM.
Substitute a known-good
ECM/PCM and recheck.
