Did you perform ENGINE DIAGNOSIS FLOW
TABLE in SECTION 6?
Go to Step 2.
Go toENGINE DIAGNO-
SIS FLOW TABLE in
SECTION 6.
2
1) Measure resistance of CMP sensor by referring
to CMP SENEOR (PICK UP COIL) RESIS-
TANCE in SECTION 6F1.
Is resistance within specified value?
Go to Step 3.
Faulty CMP sensor.
3
1) With ignition switch at OFF position, disconnect
ECM/PCM electrical connectors.
3) Measure resistance from terminal “A10” to “A9”
of ECM/PCM connector.
Is resistance within 660 – 810
at 20
C (68
F)?
Go to Step 4.
“W” or “B” wire open or
short.
Poor connection of CMP
sensor connector termi-
nal.
4
1) Remove Distributor cap.
2) Visually inspect CMP sensor signal rotor for
damage.
Was any damage found?
Faulty CMP sensor sig-
nal rotor.
Poor connection of ECM/
PCM connector terminal.
If OK, substitute a
known-good ECM/PCM
and recheck CMP.
NOTE:
Upon completion of inspection and repair work, perform DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE in this sec-
tion and confirm that the trouble has been corrected.
