22) Measure depth “L1” which is from mating surface of side bear-
ing house on case side to differential ball bearing surface.
CAUTION:
When replacement of lower case is necessary, replace
together with main case.
After replacing case and differential, always make a
shim adjustment.
23) Measure height “L2” which is from mating surface of side bear-
ing housing (2) to differential ball bearing surface with dummy
(3) as shown in figure.
Calculate clearance “L4” between case side and side bearing
housing side.
“L4” = “L1” – “L2”
Clearance “L4”: 0 – 0.2 mm (0 – 0.0078 in)
If clearance is not within range of specified clearance, adjust
by selecting shim.
24) Apply sealant to mating surfaces of side bearing housing (1)
and case. Then install side bearing housing (1) with arrow mark
(2) on it pointing case side as shown in left figure and tighten
bolts to specified torque.
Sealant: SUZUKI BOND 1216 (99000-31160)
Tightening torque for side bearing housing bolt
19 N
.
m (1.9 kg-m, 14.0 lb-ft)
CAUTION:
As coating bolts are used, use new ones.
