36) When case (3) and clutch (2) have been replaced, measure
end play and if it is not as specified, replace bearing race and
thrust washer.
End play means clearance between T1 and T2 as indicated in
left figure.
CAUTION:
Measure with gasket set to case side.
Measure end play as follows.
Install needle bearing (1), bearing race (2) and thrust washer
(3) to oil pump (4) and measure L1 as shown in left figure.
Measure L2 from top surface of oil pump thrust washer (1).
Measure depth “g” which is from top surface of case gasket
to installation surface of direct clutch drum bearing as shown
in left figure and calculate L3.
L3 = “g” – 0.1 mm (“g” – 0.0039 in)
Measure depth “h” as shown in left figure and calculate L4.
L4 = “h” – 0.1 mm (“h” – 0.0039 in)
Calculate clearance T1 and clearance T2.
If the clearance is not within range of specification, replace
bearing race and/or thrust washer.
Bearing race side: T1 = L3 – L1
End play on thrust washer side
T1: 0.25 – 0.55 mm (0.0098 – 0.021 in)
Thrust washer side: T2 = L4 – L2
End play on thrust washer side
T2: 0.55 – 0.9 mm (0.022 – 0.035 in)
