In addition to the distance to fault measurement, the R&S Cable Rider ZPH also
features a reflection measurement, for example to test impedance matching.
Using markers
The R&S Cable Rider ZPH uses markers to read out signal levels and frequencies.
Markers are always positioned on the trace. Both the level and frequency at their cur-
rent positions are displayed on the screen.
► Press the [MARKER] key.
The R&S Cable Rider ZPH activates a marker and puts it on the maximum value
on the trace.
A red vertical line represents the position of the marker on the horizontal axis (e.g.
the frequency).
A small red horizontal dash represents the marker position on the vertical axis (e.g.
the level).
The R&S Cable Rider ZPH shows the marker position and measurement in the
Measurement Trace Result
.
Measuring the cable loss
In addition to the distance to the cable fault, you might also be interested in the loss
that the cable has over a particular frequency span.
1. Press the [MEAS] key.
2. Select the "Cable Loss" softkey.
The R&S Cable Rider ZPH now shows how much power is lost for a particular fre-
quency span.
