3. Select the cable model that you require from the list of cables.
The R&S Cable Rider ZPH loads the cable model that will be taken in for consider-
ation during the distance-to-fault measurement.
You can also define new cable models on the R&S Cable Rider ZPH or with the R&S
InstrumentView software and then transfer them to the R&S Cable Rider ZPH. For
more information, see
Chapter 7.2.1.3, "Creating a Cable Model"
,
on page 144.
In addition to the cable model, you should also specify the maximum distance to the
cable end.
1. Press the [FREQ/DIST] key.
2. Select the "Stop Dist" softkey.
The R&S Cable Rider ZPH opens an input field to specify the cable length.
3. Enter the maximum distance of the cable you are testing.
The range is from 3 m (10 ft) to 1500 m (4921 ft). The unit depends on the regional
settings. It is either meter or feet. For more information, see
"Setting the length unit"
on page 49.
The R&S Cable Rider ZPH uses the cable length to determine the ideal span for the
measurement and to scale the horizontal axis. For best results, the cable should be
specified 20% to 50% longer than the actual cable length.
