The R&S Cable Rider ZPH switches its operating mode.
By default, the R&S Cable Rider ZPH shows the magnitude of the reflection (S11).
You can also measure the distance to fault or the cable loss.
3. Press the [MEAS] key.
4. Select the "DTF" softkey.
The R&S Cable Rider ZPH opens a submenu to select the measurement format.
5. Select the "Return Loss" or "SWR" menu item.
The R&S Cable Rider ZPH starts the distance-to-fault measurement and displays
the result in the respective measurement format.
Setting the frequency and bandwidth
To get the best results, you should adjust the center frequency to that of the DUT and
set the measurement bandwidth.
Measurement bandwidth
The measurement bandwidth for R&S Cable Rider ZPH model .02 is fixed at 10 kHz.
1. Press the [FREQ/DIST] key.
2. Select the "DTF Center Freq" softkey.
The R&S Cable Rider ZPH opens an input field to specify the center frequency.
3. Enter the center frequency you required.
4. Press the [DTF/BW] key.
5. Select the "Bandwidth" softkey.
6. Enter 100 kHz as the measurement bandwidth.
Specifying the cable model and cable length
To perform cable tests, you have to specify the type of the cable and its approximate
length.
1. For model .02, press the [DTF CONFIG] key.
For model .12, press the [DTF/BW] key.
2. Select the "Cable Config" softkey.
The R&S Cable Rider ZPH opens a file manager dialog box to select the cable
model.
Identifying Cable Faults
