again, you do not have to recalibrate the R&S Cable Rider ZPH. See
Chapter 5.4,
"Presetting the R&S Cable Rider ZPH"
,
on page 100.
7.1.7.1
Calibration States
The R&S Cable Rider ZPH features several calibration states that it displays in the sta-
tus line. The possible states depend on the calibration type (see below).
●
(dcal)
The calibration data uses the default calibration. The default calibration is a "Full 1-
port" calibration performed in the factory during production. It is stored in the mem-
ory and can be restored after a preset or self-alignment. Default calibration can
also be performed in the "Instrument Setup " dialog box. See
Chapter 4.2.10, "Per-
forming Default Calibration"
,
on page 56.
●
(cal)
The calibration data uses the user calibration. To get in this state, a "Full 1-port " or
"Full 2-port" is performed. See also the
automated calibration
.
●
(norm)
The R&S Cable Rider ZPH is using normalization. To get in this state, the "Easy 1-
port" or "Normalize Trans" is performed.
●
(norm int)
The R&S Cable Rider ZPH interpolates the correction data between the reference
points of the calibration. Interpolation is used when you change one of the fre-
quency parameters (start, stop or center frequency). In that case, the distribution of
the measurement points is different to the distribution during calibration. This could
result in an increasing measurement uncertainty.
7.1.7.2
Calibration Methods
Full 2-Port calibration is only available with model .12.
The following user calibration types are available in antenna and cable test mode.
●
Full 2-Port
Both RF ports are calibrated for a complete set of measurements. The calibration
routine therefore requires the connection of the standards load, open and short to
both test ports, and a through connection of the RF ports. The influences of the test
setup and of the isolation between the RF ports are thereby determined and taken
into account in the subsequent measurement of the device under test.
The "Full 2-Port" calibration is actually the combination of "Full 1-Port" + "Normal-
ize Trans" calibration.
●
Full 1-Port
RF input port is calibrated for measurements on that port. The calibration routine
requires the calibration standards open, short and load to be connected one after
another.
